2011 Managers, Newness, & Drinks

So I am not the type of person that really eats a lot of different foods, I.e. foreign foods such as Mexican, Japanese, Chinese, etc. I made a new years resolution for 2011, that I would branch out and try some new things, I called it the"the Year of Newness!!" I have currently had Mexican, and Japanese, Sushi, and Indian food (I'm doing it big!). I have come to enjoy Japanese and here lately have had a taste for Arigatos and if I lived in Miami then it would be Benihana's!! Now in trying these new foods and attending these new restaurants I've noticed that not only is the food a reasonable price, and pretty good, but as well the drink specials are top notch, (not the cheap stuff), and reasonably.priced.

With that being said, the other night me and my homegirls/classmates went out to a Mexican restaurant called Pablanos in Greensboro off of Battleground! This is my second time attending this restaurant, but this time I actually ate. So we go in, the manager takes us to our seats, and informs us of the drink specials. On this particular night, which was a Thursday, the specials were $2.00 beers, $4.00 something, and $5.50 margaritas!! So of course we don't drink beer so the pick of that night was $5.50 MARGARITAS!! Now when we ordered these we were thinking, regular glasses of Margaritas, you know 16oz. But Noooo, we were wrong!!! When our waitress comes back, she brings back 32oz Margaritas on the rocks!!! Omg!!! So all of our eyes get huge and we looking at each like, well no more drinks for us.

As we sit there conversing, the manager comes by and asks, how are the drinks? Can you taste the Tequila? We were like, uhhh, not really, he said okay then. My homegirl was like, I bet he's bringing us shots. We were like, nahhh. Two minutes later he brings us shots of Tequila!! I know you are thinking, wow, he's a great manager! Or how many managers really work to satisfy their customers!!?? Because that's what I thinking!! Well we all complimented him and said he is doing a great job, and we have never had someone to want to fix a persons drink without charging them!! So shout out to the new manager of 5 months at Pablanos off Battleground in Greensboro!!

All in all it, has been an adventure and a wonderful experience in trying these new foods. So if you are like me and very selective about the types of food you eat, don't let no one force you into trying it, but slowly walk your way into experiencing new things. If you make the decision to try new things and gradually work your way into it you are more receptacle to enjoying it more!!!

T. O. and Arena Football!!




Terrell Owen host's a work out in Southern California for teams and agents to come check him out and see what he has left!! One, not so serious knee surgery, another serious surgery on the off season!?!?! Can he do it, will he be picked up? T.O. commented to reporters that "I definitely feel there are some teams out there that are interested." Well, T.O., there is definitely a team or two out there that is looking at you, but not the one that you probably expected!!





Hip Hip Hooray!! Hip Hip Hooray! For he's a jolly good fella, for he's a jolly good fella, which no one can DENY!!! Someone finally decided to pick up the six time pro-bowl wide receiver for the 2012 season!! Owen's finished last season with the Bengals and has been a free agent since he was not re-signed. Well, things may be looking up for Mr. Owen's!! Two teams offered him a little something! The one and only:CHICAGO Rush,in the Arena League extended him an AFL contract!! Now if anyone knows football, you know that with arena football, you get paid nothing like the NFL!! You get paid maybe $200-$400 a game if you play, and if you don't play you get a little something, something!! His second offer was from Allen Wrangler in Dallas. He offered T.O. a $250,00-$500,000 extended contract! Which one will he choose?!?! So many choices...lol.




So, again, though it is not the NFL or the NFL salary, at least it's something.... right? But in his case you have to question, IS IT?? All I can say is welcome back to real life!!! In the word it states "treat thy neighbor as ourselves," and according to a friend, "a bad attitude is like a flat tire it gets you no where!!" T.O. was arrogant, naive, and rude, so, again, welcome back to reality. This for him should be some teachable moments! But the question is, will it be? He has cried that no money is coming in and he doesn't know what he is going to do, but hey, one option could be to sell the house!! Two, he gets money from his show, so he is not technically broke...maybe!! If these fools, in these pro leagues would just be smart about their money, and think about the future vs, what's going on presently then they may be in a better position later on.

So again, CONGRATS to T.O. for his come back!!!

Osama bin Laden is dead!!! Yay, states the world, Congratulations, some say, He is finally dead, we tell one another, It's all over, we think!!

On May 2, 2011, the terrorist of the 9/11 events was killed! It's all over the news and spread across the media/world like a plague! What a renounced moment for those in the navy, army, Iraq, etc. For some it was a day of joy and excitement. But for some it was a day of torment and sadness! At this current point, I don't know how I feel, emotionally anyway! But mentally all I can think is that, we as Americans are SOOOO ecstatic that this man is dead that we are still left blind, uninformed, and lost that it is terrifying. Osama, yes a cruel and evil human being but he was still human! Just because this individual is dead does not mean we should necessarily be jumping for joy (to some extent). We should still be on the look out, asking more questions, and working to be ten steps ahead rather than 50 behind! We can let our guard down! Just because this man is dead does not mean that there still couldn't be something still in line or planned. I pray and hope that there isn't, but we can't loose focus, determination, and motivation.

It states in the bible (NLT Version), Proverbs 16:2 that:

People may be pure in their own eyes,

but the Lord examines their motives.

GOD examined bin Laden's motives, and new! He new! Through all things, God has a plan and purpose! A plan and purpose not only for our lives but for this state, country, but for the entire world. It is up to us to follow the rules of God, receive/get knowledge, wisdom, and understanding! It is up to us to pray and have Hope, Faith, and Love, and let God take care of the rest!

In final closing Osama stated: His greatest hope, he told supporters, was that if he died at the hands of the Americans, the Muslim world would rise up and defeat the nation that had killed him.
So, All in all I say, we must not put down our guard, we must not per-se cheer on the fact that Osama bin Laden is dead, but look at where we were, where we are now, and where we are about to go! Look at the whole picture and not half of it!! Work harder to be stronger and knowledgeable! But, most importantly it is now time for us to come together as one, as equals, and individuals that are receptive to, as my bishop states, changing lives & building communities!!!

Equal

On today's date, April 4th, in 1968, the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Was assassinated. The reverend Dr. MLK was a powerful man, he was a wise and knowledgeable man. He was someone that thought before reacting, he listened before speaking, he was a man that didn't take violent approaches or acts to get his point across, and most importantly he was a man of God. Dr. King was one that was quick to listen, slow to answer and slow to get angry. Because of his actions, loyalty, integrity, and vision, we have overcame the obstacles that our mothers, fathers, and ancestors have went through. As Dr. King fought for our rights, races coming together, being one and so forth, one thing that he spoke on in his speech that I question is EQUALITY!

He wanted us to be equal! Not just looked at as all these different races and still be denied of a job or the right to be in school. We are to be equal in all areas and aspects of life. We are to be ONE, a total sum of equal, rights, values, policies, standards, and so forth. Just as Dr. King spoke on equality and us coming together, now is the time to apply equality and work towards the same vision, goal, or mission, how we can better ourselves. As Obama's goal is to turn this government/world around, we to come together as equals and work towards the same desires of Dr. King and Obama.


Besides what has been stated, think about it, are we looked at as equals, are we equals? Rather it be ethnic backgrounds, status, gender, etc...are we equal?

My mom mentioned, a few ladies in Walmart were talking about the government and of course got on Obama, saying that he promised this and said he would do that. You have to wonder, in these ladies discussing whatever, are they really looking at the whole picture, or as the old saying goes, looking at the glass halfway full or empty? People seem to forget that all this debt, war, etc that we are in started way before President Obama got into office! The struggle that this world is in, will not take a year, two years, three years or even four years to clean up! The place that Obama is in, no one, past or any future president would want to be in. This man has so much on his plate as president that its ridiculous! But, only by his grace, Gods grace, and his sufficiency that Obama is staying level headed (where we are weak, he is strong). PBO isn't in office just because we voted, he is in office because that is where God intended for him to be. God knew that no other man or woman would have the patience or the work ethics he has to handle all thats going on and implement certain policies, procedures, or laws. Overall people need to stop looking at what he hasn't done YET, his skin color, his date and place of birth, but look where we used to be in some areas and where we are now, as well look at what is going on in this world. All the deaths, fires, floods, earthquakes, loss of jobs, no food and so forth. All of these issues are what people fail to look at! I hate to say it, but we as humans don't take the time to think and analyze. It is more of, white/black/Hispanic/Indian/Chinese, etc.,democrate/republic, Christian/Catholic and so on. Well now is the time to move on from all of that! Every bit of what was listed plus others, are the things that we let divide us as a family, a nation or country. Now, at this very moment is the time that we should come together and put our heads together and also build each others faith because if not, then it will just continue to worsen.

In my closing, to all that will read this, start coming together, build foundations, help others and other countries! In this day in time, there is no time to be selfish but be wise, faithful, knowledgeable, understanding, patient, and in all things have LOVE in your heart and AFFECTIONATE IN YOUR GIVING. Be patient with PBO, because I know in the end, HE, YOU ,& I WILL WIN!!!
